Pecha Kucha Sheffield #02 followed from where we left off with #01 in April, by hosting it in another intimate and cool venue.  This time it was The Wig and Pen in characteristic Cathedral Quarter.

The theme was ‘Enthusiasm’ which comes from the ancient Greek meaning ‘Enthusios’ or the ‘God Within’.   As usual, there was an eclectic mix of speakers; Greg Povey (he knows all the word to ‘Trouble’ by Shampoo),  Deborah Egan (she once had a punch up with Phil Jupitus), YearFourCreative (they’re bike geeks), Chris Dowson (graphic designer with a quiff), and Tim Rumboll (he makes sounds).  And a last minute request from Ian Anderson.

It was another amazing night full of thought-provoking presentations and banter, as well as interesting looking cushions.

We’re starting to plan Pecha Kucha Sheffield #03, so watch this space (follow us on Twitter: PKNSheff).

Last night saw the launch of the first ever Pecha Kucha night in Sheffield – the 300th city to host these special events.  Together with Clare MacKenzie and Jonny Douglas, we managed to get the rights to the Pecha Kucha brand, and will be hosting a total of 4 events in the coming year.

For Pecha Kucha Sheffield 01, we decided on using The Chimney House, a unique building in Kelham Island - this meant the event having a very boutique and intimate feel.  As for speakers, they were Alasdair from Article magazine, Andy from YooMee, artist Wildago, and Ian Anderson from Designers Republic.

We are already planning Pecha Kucha Sheffield 02 for the summer, watch this space…
